Social Justice
The Social Justice Committee provides leadership in the church and community. They select annual projects, develops plans for increased awareness of issues within the congregation and community, and encourage individual and congregational involvement in community social justice projects.
The social justice focus the 2010-2011 year for HVUUC is Hunger In Our Neighborhood. HVUUC is working with several groups: Jonesborough Food Bank; Second Harvest Food Bank in Gray and they have opportunities in many areas; Interfaith Hospitality Network in both Kingsport and Johnson City; and Hunger First in Kingsport.
Check the HVUUC calendar for opportunities to volunteer and contact the point person for that event if you’d like to participate, or email office@hvuuc.org and your name and contact info will be forwarded.
