Reverend Luck’s Covenant with the Members of Holston Valley U U Church
I will serve as your religious leader, holding the values of our free faith before us as PARTNERS IN MINISTRY.
I pledge to walk with you in UNITY of spirit, in the bond of PEACE, and in all ways of TRUTH and LOVE.
I will use my hands and heart, my vision and voice, to HEAL and not to harm this BELOVED COMMUNITY.
I will preach my words of truth in the FREEDOM of your pulpit, and minister to your joys and sorrows with LOVE.
And I will seek the greater good of the community by NURTURING the INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH of this church.
I will dare to DISAGREE OPENLY and AGREEABLY with you, to dream what the church may become, and to be open to TRANSFORMATION and growth.
I will SHARE my portion of truth with you, and LISTEN deeply to learn YOUR PORTION of truth, that we might GROW in spiritual wisdom and understanding together.
There will always be differences of opinions, those differences will be RESPECTED and deeply considered by me in discerning what is best for the HEALTH and WELL-BEING of the congregation and it’s MINISTRY.
I recognize the need at times for AMICABLY AGREEING TO DISAGREE in order to preserve the UNITY of the congregation; such action will not lessen my CARE and RESPECT for EACH member of the congregation.
In this ministry may we be a blessing to each other; and together, be a BLESSING TO THE WORLD. Amen
