Fellowship Hour Instructions
Sunday Fellowship Hour
Before Service:
1. If you want to bring snacks for coffee hour you are welcome to. If you’d rather not, there are cookies available at church to put out. Please remember, when brining snacks that they should be “finger food” or something that can be eaten without a plate or bowl. To reduce the clean up time, we try not to use any dishes for coffee hour other than coffee mugs and cups.
2. Empty the dishwasher, if dishes are clean.
3. Set up percolators. For Sunday coffee hour make 2 percolators of regular coffee and the small drip coffee maker with decaf.
Percolator - 2 cups of regular coffee (use the coffee in the container that says Percolator Grind) to 30 cups of water. There is a metal tube that needs to be inserted into the percolator and a basket that sits on top of it. If the basket slides down the metal tube, it’s the wrong tube.
Put top on and plug in the percolator. The percolators take almost an hour to brew so be sure to do this before the service.
Regular coffeepots – take 1/2-3/4 cups of coffee (drip grind) to 12 cups of water.
4. Put on the counter:
coffee mugs plastic cups for lemonade/water
napkins spoons half & half
sugar sweetener tea bags
5. Fill electric kettle with water for tea. It takes just a minute to boil, so you can wait to turn it on until after the service.
6. Lemonade mix is above the sink. Mix lemonade according to directions on the can. The pitchers for the lemonade are in the cabinet in the island or in the cabinet above the stove.
7. If you didn’t bring cookies/snacks for coffee hour, there are some in the cabinet under the island and the cabinet above the can opener. Also, check the refrigerator for things to be put out. If it doesn’t have a note on it saying it’s for a specific event, put it out for coffee hour.
After Service:
1. Turn on electric kettle for tea.
2. Keep counter stocked with enough mugs and cups.
3. Make more lemonade/coffee if necessary.
Clean Up:
1. Clean coffeepot
2. Make sure dishes have been picked up from the Fellowship Hall.
3. If it’s a coffee hour, the mugs should all fit in the dishwasher. A larger event or potluck requires use of the commercial dishwasher.
4. Put coffee and tea fixings away.
5. Wipe off tables and counters.
6. Check to be sure stove/oven are turned off.
7. Put towels and tablecloths in the laundry basket.
